Friday 8th December the course was open providing some rest bite from the winter weather. Over fifty seniors teed up for the traditional Xmas competition. This annual event is a pair’s stableford competition where teams are drawn from two hats pairing low and high handicaps. Prizes are festive and nearest the pins are played on the regular par threes.
The winners were Terry Knott and George Ellis with 42 points narrowly beating Andy Matthewman and Graham Budd on countback. Alex Bevans and I were a credible 3rd with 39 points with John Upson and John Howell in 4th place with 38 points.
Nearest the pins were Alex Blevins on the 6th , Captain Tony Hince on the 10th , David Elsam on the 16th and Dave Blackmore on the 17th .
On a bitterly cold day the lunch of hot soup and sandwiches was welcomed by all and rounded off with a mince pie and drinks from the bar.
