2016 Junior Ryder Cup – Willesley Park GC v Branston Golf & Country Club
Sunday 9th October saw the junior teams from Willesley Park and Branston play for the Junior Ryder Cup. The standard of golf and etiquette seen throughout the day was a credit to both clubs.
The day was split into two sessions, the morning Fourballs and the afternoon Foursomes. The home team, Willesley, got off to a very strong start taking the morning session with a 4-1 lead. However, in the past two years, Willesley had failed to pick up a single point or half point in the foursome matches. It was very much all to play for.
The Willesley juniors were able to see off some early pressure from Branston and also took the afternoon session 3-2, giving them an overall win of 7-3.
It was an excellent day of golf and a pleasure to be a part of. This was carried through into the speeches of both junior captains, Nathan Taylor and Harry Shepherd, who both did an excellent job.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible.
